Stage Select partitions part of a three- or four-bedroom home so you initially rent only the space you need, then add rooms without moving as your household changes. UR pays the room-expansion construction cost.

Expand in stages by removing partitions
Part of a larger home is closed by a partition. A household can start with a smaller layout and later expand to a larger one while keeping the same school and neighborhood.
Rooms cannot be removed again
Once space is added it cannot be reduced, and the room opened at each stage is predetermined for the home rather than chosen by the tenant. Single applicants may apply, but participating homes are limited.
A contract change is required
A separate memorandum is exchanged at the initial contract and the expansion requires a change agreement with UR. Check the selected home's area, rent at each stage and construction schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make the home smaller after expanding?
No. UR states that reducing the number of rooms is not available.
Can I choose which room is opened?
No. The room available at each stage is predetermined for the individual home.
